It seems like only yesterday that I was at the first Canned Acoustica back in December. I had a great time and was introduced to many local musicians I had not had the chance to hear before at all, let alone live. I could go on and on, of course, but I already did so in a recap post.
Which is a really good thing, because that was the point of the recap post, and thus it’s not the point of this one. What is the point of this post, then? To give y’all a heads up that it’s happening again, this time on March 3 starting at 7pm. The venue (Warehouse Live’s Green Room) and event organizer (Mark C. Austin) both remain the same, as will the presence of affordable food trucks. For the second round, an entirely different musical line-up will be taking the stage (links are to official artist websites except where noted):
- The Tontons
- Roky Moon
- Come See My Dead Person
- Southern Backtones
- Finnegan (MySpace)
- Lee Alexander
- Young Girls (MySpace)
- Poor Pilate (Tumblr)
- Erin Rodgers (bio at Kennedy Bakery; best available page about her I could find)
The price for entry is once again not cash, but canned food items; this time there is a specific minimum of two cans. More than half a ton (1000 pounds) of food was collected for the Houston Food Bank at the first event, and there’s no reason we as a community can’t improve upon that this time around.
So save the date, and if you’re so inclined, RSVP on Facebook. I’ll see you there!
