2010-03-22/28 Weekly LOVIEE

Another great week filled with things to do around town. Two music acts to start the week, two fundraisers, and the opening of an art exhibition. Hopefully every week for the forseeable future will be like this one, chock full of excitement. Spread the word, tell your friends, Quinn’s Big City is back up to full speed. In addition to the revamp I’ll be launching soon, I’ll be announcing a giveaway (the first one!) sometime in April.

Tuesday 03-23

Jon Hogan and Maria Moss, Last Concert Cafe, 1403 Nance, 6pm. Country/folk with a hint of blues. 10-W12-1

The Guzzlers, Magnolia Bar and Grill, 6000 Richmond, 7pm. Country rock, apparent influence from ZZ Top and 38 Special (my take, the band does not list them in the two dozen bands they were influenced by). This band frequently plays this venue Tuesday nights, but not every Tuesday. 10-W12-2

Wednesday 03-24

Watercolors, Sambuca, 909 Texas Ave., time not listed. 10-W12-3

Thursday 03-25

Twestival Houston 2010, Caroline Collective, 4820 Caroline, 5:30-11pm.
Featuring: music from Insert Name Here, Wayside Drive, The Last Place You Look, Winter Wallace, Prairie Cadets, and Gretchen Schmaltz; games from Extra Life Houston; a photobooth provided by Digital Memories; and a raffle featuring prizes donated by many local businesses and artists. No admission fee will be charged but as this is a charity fundraiser so please bring cash for raffle tickets and some of the activities. 10-W12-4

Friday 03-26

Gilberto Gil, Jones Hall, 8pm, $22-$57. Brazilian musician with a unique style (Tropicália) blending bossa nova, rock, African, Bahian folk, and Portugese Fado. 10-M03-5
