This week’s a bit sparse for the moment. I may add some more stuff as the week goes on so do check back and check the Twitter and Facebook pages for possible last minute updates. It’s very possible I may be able to get something out on Twitter and Facebook long before I am able to post it here.

The long-running film festival goes on tour and makes stop in Houston. 2012-03-15/31 Monthly LOVIEE

It took a little longer than I wanted, but Quinn’s Big City is back. Hopefully that will be the last major hiatus for this blog for a good long while. I really did not want to put the blog on hiatus but there was simply no way I could continue turning out any kind of quality posts given my situation at the time. Actually, not being able to make my usual blog posts was the least of my concerns, but that’s another story I’m not going to tell right now…

What I am going to do, however, is get back to sharing some of the great events coming up, that I’ve sorely missed being able to share. I went ahead and cut off this “monthly” LOVIEE at the end of March instead of carrying it forward through mid-April as originally planned. I will probably post April’s monthly LOVIEE a bit early and resume posting of the weekly LOVIEEs with the final week of March, but this is subject to change. (Since it’s already Thursday the 15th when I’m posting this, and the following week is Greek Week at Market Square Park, it does not make sense to post weekly LOVIEEs for either week.)

Saturday 03-17

Opening Reception for “Things That We See and Do”, Lynn Lane Photography, 1824 Spring, 5-9pm. Artists Lynn Lane and Carrie Courtney will be exhibiting work in the curated photography show as part of the 2012 FotoFest Biennial. The show will run through April 15 by appointment only. 12-M03-1

Greek Week at Market Square Park, presented by Niko Niko’s. This actually encompasses seven different events, one for each day of the week. All events at Market Square Park, 301 Milam (in downtown Houston).

  • Tuesday: Free Greek pastry & coffee tasting, 4-6 pm. 12-M03-3
  • Wednesday: Live Greek music and dancing, 6-10pm. 12-M03-4

  • Friday: Screening of the movie 300 (rated R), 8pm. Presented by the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow. Gerard Butler stars as King Leonidas, leading a force of 300 men to fight the Persians at Thermopylae in 480 BC. 12-M03-11
